Scandinavian Orange Spice Cutouts
A soft and chewy orange spice cookie.

Ingredients

butter
lightly salted

granulated white sugar

dark corn syrup

orange zest
(zest of one whole orange)

all-purpose flour

baking powder

tsp
ground cloves

tsp
ground nutmeg

salt
Instructions
In a small saucepan, bring the corn syrup to a boil, then allow to cool to almost room temperature. I allowed mine to cool to 95 degrees F.
Cream butter and sugar together. Then gradually add cooled corn syrup to this mixture.
Beat in egg and orange zest.
Whisk together remaining ingredients in a separate bowl, then add gradually to creamed mixture.
Divide dough in half. Wrap each half in plastic wrap, shaping into a disc. Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or until easy to handle.
On a lightly floured surface, roll 1/4" thick and cut into preferred shapes.
Bake on greased or parchment lined baking sheets at 375 for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are lightly browning.
Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
